Curing PMDD with Advanced Kundalini Science

Writer's picture: Natalia FernandezNatalia Fernandez

PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) is a life-altering condition that affects millions of women worldwide. For years, I struggled with the dark mood swings, unbearable fatigue, and deep despair that seemed to hijack my life each month. After trying conventional treatments with little relief, I finally found healing by combining Functional Medicine with Kundalini science and the transformative practices of Kriya Yoga.

Today, as a Kriya Yoga facilitator, I’m dedicated to helping others tap into these powerful tools to reclaim their health and spiritual power.

What Cured My PMDD?

The healing path wasn’t quick, but it was transformative. The integration of Functional Medicine and Kundalini Vidya—a sacred science that bridges ancient wisdom with modern understanding—was the key to addressing both the physical and spiritual root causes of my PMDD.

Kundalini Vidya revealed how energy flow within the Nadis (subtle energy channels) could impact not only my emotional well-being but also my hormonal health. When paired with Kriya Yoga and Functional Medicine, I was able to find balance, health, and a deeper sense of purpose.

What is Kundalini?

Kundalini is the life force energy that resides at the base of the spine, coiled like a serpent. This sacred energy is dormant until awakened by significant life events, spiritual practices, or even karmic influences from past lives.

For some, Kundalini may rise spontaneously, creating extraordinary experiences. For others, it remains dormant until activated through intentional practices like meditation or Kriya Yoga, or upon visiting high frequency sites (caves, temples, rivers, etc.) in the world.

How Kundalini Energy Relates to PMDD

As I studied Kundalini Vidya, I uncovered a profound connection between PMDD symptoms and a deflected Kundalini rising of the Chitrini nadi. When Kundalini energy encounters blockages within the Chitrini Nadi—a delicate inner channel connected to spiritual intuition and higher consciousness—it creates emotional, mental, and physical turbulence.

PMDD isn’t just a hormonal imbalance; it’s often a sign of energetic misalignment in spiritually sensitive individuals. Women with PMDD possess heightened intuition and a natural connection to the divine but may feel overwhelmed when energy cannot flow harmoniously. This is what causes the luteal phase to be unbearable for those with PMDD/PME, because the luteal phase represents the period of time that we let go, that we release. If one is unable to let go of past wounds, then the toxins accumulate, and give us physical manifestations such as estrogen dominance, high stress, activated mast cells, and more.

What is the Chitrini Nadi?

The Chitrini Nadi, located within the larger Shushumna Nadi, governs clarity, creativity, and divine connection. It's connected to the gifts of visions, clairvoyance, and third eye awakening. When this channel is clear, energy flows freely, enabling spiritual and physical balance.

Here's a table that helps us understand the parallels between PMDD & the Chitrini Nadi

Aspect

Deflected Kundalini Rising (Chitrini Nadi)

PMDD Symptoms

Intense emotional outbursts, irritability, or unexplained anxiety due to blocked or misaligned energy flow.

Severe mood swings, irritability, or depressive episodes during the luteal phase.

Energy Sensations

Discomfort or pressure in the head (third eye area), erratic energy surges in the spine, or tingling sensations.

Physical fatigue, heaviness, and generalized body discomfort.

Perception

Distorted intuition or confusing visions due to energetic blockages; heightened sensitivity to subtle energies.

Reduced focus and concentration, mental fog, and emotional hypersensitivity.

Physical Symptoms

Headaches, digestive disturbances, and localized pains often around chakras due to blocked energy flow.

Bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, and muscle/joint pain.

Behavioral Changes

Restlessness, impulsive decisions, or withdrawal triggered by inner energetic conflict.

Appetite shifts, sleep disturbances, social withdrawal, or hypersensitivity to conflict.

Emotional Symptoms

Feelings of being stuck, ungrounded, or overwhelmed; emotional 'purges' may occur unexpectedly.

Life Impact

Challenges in daily functioning caused by inner energetic misalignment and lack of spiritual grounding.

Significant impairment in work, relationships, and daily responsibilities.

Root Cause

Energetic blockages or misalignments within the Chitrini Nadi, often caused by trauma, stress, or lack of spiritual readiness.

Hormonal imbalances related to the menstrual cycle, specifically involving serotonin and progesterone.

Resolution Path

Requires energy alignment through spiritual practices, grounding techniques, and clearing chakra blocks.

Conventional medical interventions: SSRIs, birth control, hysterrectomy, HRT Integrative medicine interventions: anti-histamine medications & diet, infrared sauna, functional medicine health coaching, lifestyle modifications

Healing PMDD with Kriya Yoga

Kriya Yoga was the cornerstone of my healing journey. This ancient practice systematically removes energetic blockages, detoxifies the body and mind, and supports the harmonious rise of Kundalini energy.

How Kriya Yoga Helps PMDD

  1. Releases Energy Blockages: Kriya Yoga works to clear obstructions in the Nadis, particularly the Chitrini Nadi, allowing energy to flow smoothly.

  2. Heals Generational Trauma: By clearing inherited energetic patterns, Kriya Yoga creates space for profound emotional and spiritual freedom.

  3. Balances the Nervous System: Through breathwork and meditation, Kriya Yoga calms the root chakra, easing anxiety and grounding your energy.

Functional Medicine’s Role in Healing PMDD

While Kriya Yoga addressed the energetic root causes of my PMDD, Functional Medicine complemented my healing by focusing on physical imbalances.

Key steps included:

  • Anti-inflammatory Diet: Incorporating sattvic foods like fresh cooked vegetables, whole grains, and nourishing teas to support hormonal health.

  • Better Sleep Hygiene: Optimizing rest to allow my body to recover and reset each day.

  • Lifestyle Alignment: Implementing small, joyful habits that aligned with my purpose and brought balance to my daily life.

These sustainable changes empowered me to take charge of my health in a way that felt natural and uplifting.
